As a mom of a 3rd grader and a Kindergartner (plus two rescue pups!), I'm navigating the journey of parenting in the digital world right alongside you. My professional background spans nearly 20 years, teaching Kindergarten through 6th grade in NYC and Westchester. I hold a BA in Psychology & Special Education and an MA in Educational Psychology from Marist College.
My master's thesis explored how elementary school children choose to spend their time outside of school, back when I first noticed the early wave of video game obsession (before online gaming even existed!). This topic truly became a passion once I had my own children, and I've maintained this critical lens throughout my teaching career.
My diverse experience includes serving as:
Today, I'm more committed than ever to supporting all families as we raise children in this constantly changing digital landscape. My goal is to create a domino effect of positive changes by sharing information and practical tools.
Joe Orr-Mulica is a parent, producer, and community builder who brings both professional expertise and personal passion to Mindful Tech Lessons. As a father of two young children (2nd Grader and Kindergarten) and current PTA President, Joe is deeply engaged in the day-to-day realities facing families and schools as they navigate the challenges of raising kids in a hyper-connected world.
Professionally, Joe serves as COO of Gotham Sound, a company specializing in sound, communications, and technology for film, television, live events, and corporate productions. Over his 16+ years at Gotham, Joe has helped lead podcast productions, large-scale expos, and live broadcast events.
Joe has worked at the intersection of technology and storytelling for his entire career, and now brings that same energy to helping parents, teachers, and school leaders rethink how kids use tech. Through his work with Mindful Tech Lessons, Joe co-designs live events, school seminars, and resource-driven workshops that aim to be practical, non-judgmental, and deeply rooted in community values.
He believes that the most powerful tech lesson we can give our kids is to show them that connection starts with people, not pixels.
