Washington Post

As parents, we all start with love and good intentions. Growth happens when we realize something is not working and choose to pivot.

This Washington Post article shares stories, including my own parenting journey as an educator, about watching, learning, and growing around tech and parenting. Sometimes the best lessons come when we pause, reflect, and mindfully start again.

New York Times

11.12.25

Interesting reminder that the conversation cannot only be about phones in schools. We also need to look closely at daily one to one device use. It’s surprising how few children are taught to type, yet they are expected to work on a device every day. The tiny keyboards on tablet covers make it even harder for children to type effectively, and many educators would love to see students learn on full keyboards so they can build strong, lasting skills.

When is a Bandana Not Just a Bandana?

5.31.18

An essay reflecting on how a simple bandana became a powerful symbol of hope and unity for our entire school community. This piece goes beyond the fundraiser, exploring the deeper meaning behind every student and staff member proudly wearing Gavin's trademark logo, "No Problem Gavin," and the incredible lessons we learned together.

Lo Hud

6.15.18

It was a day that proved the power of community. Organized by teacher Jill Anderson, the entire school of over 900 students and staff wore "No Problem Gavin" bandanas to raise money for Sloan Kettering. This article captures the incredible moment we all came together, celebrating hope and unity in honor of a student and his motto.
